Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Kyu, the martial arts school management service operated by Callum McKenzie. By using Kyu, you agree to these terms. If you act for a school or another organization, you must have authority to do so. Contact us at support@getkyu.app.

What Kyu provides

Kyu helps schools, instructors, students, and guardians manage curriculum, training progress, attendance, schedules, announcements, and events. Your available features and records depend on your school memberships and permissions. Your relationship with your school, including training, grading, fees, cancellations, refunds, and safeguarding, remains separate from your use of Kyu.

Accounts and access

Use accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials and private links, and only access accounts or student profiles you are authorized to use. Invitations and guardian access are intended for their designated recipients. Tell us if you suspect unauthorized access. Schools are responsible for assigning appropriate permissions and removing access when it is no longer needed.

If you are not legally able to agree to these terms on your own, your parent or legal guardian must authorize your use and agree on your behalf as required by applicable law. Schools and guardians are responsible for obtaining any consent required to create or manage a child's profile.

Acceptable use

Do not use Kyu to break the law, harass others, upload harmful or unlawful content, infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, bypass access controls, obtain another person's private records, or disrupt the service. Do not share invitation or calendar subscription links publicly. Report suspected security issues to support without accessing or distributing other people's information.

Your records and content

You retain your rights in content you provide. You give Kyu permission to host, process, display, and transmit that content as needed to provide and support the service, subject to the Privacy Policy and your access settings. You must have permission to upload curriculum, images, videos, personal information, and other materials. Do not upload a school's book or other copyrighted material unless you have the necessary rights.

Schools and instructors are responsible for the accuracy of curriculum, attendance, assessments, schedules, and other records they maintain. Contact your school to correct a training record. Kyu's software, branding, and interface remain the property of their respective owners; these terms permit use of the service and do not transfer ownership.

Training, events, and fees

Kyu is an organizational tool, not a substitute for qualified instruction, supervision, or medical advice. Progress indicators and grading recommendations do not guarantee readiness, promotion, or safe participation. Your instructor or school makes training and grading decisions. Confirm important arrangements with your school; notifications and calendar updates may be delayed.

Event or grading prices displayed in Kyu are set by the school. Unless an explicit payment service is offered with separate terms, arrange payment, cancellations, and refunds directly with the school. An expression of interest or intention to attend an event does not by itself guarantee a reserved place.

Other services

Sign-in, email delivery, calendar applications, and device notifications involve third-party services and may be subject to those providers' terms. Kyu does not control their availability or their handling of information after you share it with them.

Availability, changes, and ending access

We work to keep Kyu useful and reliable, but do not promise uninterrupted availability or error-free records. Features may change. We may restrict or suspend access to address misuse, security risks, legal requirements, or violations of these terms. Where practical and appropriate, we will provide notice. You can stop using Kyu and contact support about your account; your school may separately retain its records as described in the Privacy Policy.

Responsibility and legal rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Kyu is provided as available without additional warranties beyond those required by law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits consumer or privacy rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Each party remains responsible for its obligations under applicable law. Contact support first if you have a concern so we can try to resolve it.

Updates to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops. We will publish the updated terms with a new date and provide additional notice or seek agreement where required. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the service and contact us about your account.
